Oberman, the internationally acclaimed historian of historical, social, and religious thought, and professor and director of the Division for Late Medieval and Reformation Studies in the University of Arizona history department, died April 22, 2001. Heiko A. Oberman, an internationally acclaimed historian of Reformation Europe and Regents' Professor of history at the University of Arizona, died April 22 in Tucson. He was 70. Also director of the UA Division for Late Medieval and Reformation Studies, Oberman was already a renowned scholar when he joined the UA in 1984. Heiko Augustinus Oberman was a Dutch historian and theologian who specialized in the study of the Reformation.
